Каждый год в канун Нового года в отдаленной горной деревне проводится театрализованный фестиваль под названием «Битва при Бунъэй». И каждый год мэр деревни рассказывает губернатору провинции об успешном мероприятии. И каждый год правительство выделяет субсидию из бюджета на его проведение. И все было замечательно, пока однажды из Токио не позвонили и не сказали, что в деревню приедут богатые туристы из Саудовской Аравии…

Наталья Сергеевна и Дмитрий Станиславович не вернулись. Родители Падмы тоже. Мы ходили к гомпе, просто чтобы убедиться. Она еще стоит, но это уже не монастырь. Это лишь его очертания. Эффект наблюдателя. 7 ноября

Утром Наталья Сергеевна сказала, что они с мужем собираются пойти в гомпу. Она не могла объяснить причину этого решения, как не может объяснить человек, почему ему снится тот или иной сон. Они просто чувствовали: надо идти. Возможно, это был зов ритуала, возможно — попытка найти смысл в исчезающем мире, возможно — просто привычка следовать маршруту
